The Korean American Globalization Committee of Eastern US organized
the NYC’s second annual Korea Day! It was celebrated on AUGUST 16 2011,
in the heart of Central Park (Naumburg Bandshel).

Many Korean restaurant businesses in the local area supported this festivity,
which started at 11am and ended up around 7pm. It was simply AMAZING.
Filled with great live outdoor performances, contests & Korean F-O-O-D.
Also, the so announced New York Kpop Contest hosted by the Korean
The eight contestants that made it to the finals out of the many contestants
that auditioned online via Youtube, performed live at the event around 5pm.
The winner of the contest in this case the 16 years old Madison Gunst
received a round-trip ticket to Korea sponsored by Asiana Airlines
& is able to participate in the ‘Worldwide KPOP Contest”
The objective of this festivity was to share the native Korean culture with
New Yorkers. Thats why in order to promote Korean culture & Korean food,
They decided to serve traditional Korean dishes such as Bulgogi, Daegi
Bulgogi, lettuce wraps, Kimchi, Korean pancakes, Japchae, Ddukboki,
& Bibimbap at the event.
They also had an special guest from Korea. The band ‘Sorea‘, who specialize in
performing traditional Korean music. And talking bout traditional, they had Cultural
booths where people could also try on traditional Korean clothing (hanbok). ♥
